From the top levels all the way to the lowest of laborers, everyone in France had a reason to want to prompt great change. The change would have been to allow the wealthy free persons of color their share in power, wealth and social prestige in this union.
Some say it was stolen and sold in Germany, others say that it is in England. They wanted the gradual elimination of slavery, yet they wanted the retention of France's prosperous West Indian colonies. Even though there were battles in America with the Indians, mostly in the pursuit of land, these did not match the scope and cost of the Seven Years War that had driven the French nearly to bankruptcy.
Police used tear gas and batons. I had some luck along the way, but my strategy was part of a larger scholarly shift that emphasizes the interconnectedness of the Atlantic World.
About half of them were mulattoes, children of white Frenchmen and slave women. Historians and scholars in other disciplines have sought to complicate the characterizations of Haitian history as a linear path from revolution to twenty-first century poverty.
The Haitian Revolution involved armies from the French, British, and Spanish Empires as well as armies of slaves and former slaves and free non-white colonial residents.
The white planters saw this was totally against their interests, thus they withdrew and formed their own assembly at Cape Francois today Cape Haitien.
It is important to note that this independence movement did not include the slaves in any way whatsoever. It's now about ousting Yanukovych and his corrupt government; guiding Ukraine away from its year-long, deeply intertwined and painful relationship with Russia; and standing up for basic human rights to protest, speak and think freely and to act peacefully without the threat of punishment.
Just as in America, it was the middle and lower classes involved in the revolution and although the loyalists in America had a sound following, the demographics of the revolution were essentially the same.
While it seems that a majority of the focus of the French Revolution is on the plight and revolt of the working poor, the fact remains that this was a rebellion that was so effective because of this widespread support.
On September 20, the Colonial Assembly recognized the Paris decree of May, and they even took it a step further.
This uprising which would not ever be turned back, began on the evening of August 21st. One was the charisma of General Washington, embodying as he did the states had fought the war together.
With the strong government control headquartered and the great leadership of Dom Pedro they became the independent country you see today. While there were different circumstances that effected the governments being rebelled against and there were different demographics of supporters, these revolutions had similar aims and achieved the similar result of a new republic and constitution as the final outcome.
This movement finally broke into full revolution in and ordinary citizens, for the first time in France's history, had the rights of citizenship.
With the aid of the British, the rebels scored a major victory against the French force there, and on November 9,colonial authorities surrendered. The amendment was both too much and not enough. The numbers of maroons had swollen dramatically and all that was needed was some spark to ignite the pent up frustration, hatred and impulse toward independence.

In the late s, New Spain was Spain’s most important and rich colony. The rebel forces defeated the French army inwhich made the Haitian Revolution the first successful slave revolt. Thus, on January 1,the rebels declared independence and created the modem nation of Haiti, the first black republic.
